Welcome to our school.

We are a friendly First School, which welcomes 4 to 9 year old children. Our school is in the ancient market town of FROME in Somerset.
We are very fortunate to be based in a very attractive and extensive building, which is rich in history. We have very good facilities including a field; two play areas, a large hall, library and computer suite and large bright airy classrooms. The school is well resourced with good quality equipment and a very experienced, hard working and committed staff.

We seek to foster a love of learning in a friendly and supportive environment where all children can feel safe and happy as part of a School family. Each child is seen as an individual and we aim to provide a curriculum that caters for their needs regardless of their ability so that they can develop at their own pace.
OUR SCHOOL AIMS We aim for excellent standards and have high expectations for all. We aim to work in partnership for each other’s success. We aim to create a high quality, enjoyable learning environment.
We have a number of Special Themed weeks and Family Learning Events when parents are invited into school to work with their children and the staff. In the past we have had Storytelling weeks, India week and Arts weeks.
Educational Visits and a residential for our Year Four children as well as after school activity clubs are some of the ways that we extend and enrich our curriculum.
We are committed to reducing the impact our school has on the environment and hold a Bronze Eco School Award. The children are encouraged to be eco friendly and to understand our impact upon the environment.
We hold the Active Mark for our PE achievements. The children have a wide range of opportunities to be healthy within their curriculum and extended after school activities. we plan at least two hours of Physical Education lessons into our timetables for all ages. We have been awarded National Healthy Schools Plus status. We are committed to encouraging healthy eating and lifestyle through our curriculum. As part of this we encourage water bottles to be available at all times and children to have fruit at snack time. To support this further, we have signed up for the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme which gives each Reception and Key Stage 1 child a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day. As part of our commitment to encouraging healthy eating we work with Sodexo to provide children with the option of a healthy hot meal at lunchtime.
We actively encourage parents to form a partnership with us to support their child's progress in school. You are always welcome and frequently invited to assemblies and events. The school has an 'open door' policy so that parents can come in any time to discuss concerns or make suggestions. All parents are invited to Parents Forums where parents views are sought on various issues in school.
